The therapeutic indications of adrenal gland include asthenia, easy fatigue, muscular atony (myasthenia) and all conditions of a “run-down” nature. Harrower recommends ½ – 2½ grains of total adrenal substance 3 to 4 times a day (equivalent to 97.5 – 650 mg/day). Specifically, adrenal gland is used in states where the adrenals have been over-stimulated, such as acute infectious diseases (especially influenza) and where there are reduced oxidation, defective sympathetic tone, and a marked fatigue syndrome. Adrenal should be given early in acute conditions, to avoid the “let-down” and adrenal-stimulating foods and drugs, such as coffee and strychnine, should be avoided, as the adrenals are already over-stimulated Cobb also indicates the use of adrenal after acute illness in adults, where asthenia and delayed convalescence is evident. He believes that a disturbance of the adrenal hormone contributes to the slow recuperation and hinders recovery.

DOSAGE
